Support and frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions regarding data export, account deletion, state presets, and record-keeping workflows.
How do I export my records?
You can export all property, tenancy, ledger charge, payment, and receipt records to standard CSV files at any time from your account settings. CSV files open in Excel, Apple Numbers, Google Sheets, or your accounting software.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can remove properties and tenancy records directly from the application. To completely delete your landlord account and all associated data from our servers, send an email from your registered address to support@tennly.app. Deletion permanently erases your profile, listings, applications, ledgers, and receipts.
Which states have built-in rule presets?
Tennly includes built-in defaults for late-fee grace periods, maximum fee calculations, and screening rules for Oregon (ORS 90.260 / ORS 90.295) and the ten most populous states: California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan. Every preset is fully editable, so landlords in any state can customize rules to match local municipal ordinances and lease agreements.
Does Tennly pull credit and eviction reports automatically?
No. In Version 1, Tennly does not pull reports directly from credit bureaus. You obtain credit and background reports through your chosen screening service or directly from applicants, and enter summary numbers into Tennly. This avoids expensive bureau credentialing fees and protects applicant privacy by ensuring Tennly never stores Social Security numbers or dates of birth.
How does the adverse-action letter generator work?
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681m), landlords must provide written notice when denying an applicant or requiring a co-signer based in whole or in part on a consumer report. Tennly generates printable adverse-action letters populated with your Consumer Reporting Agency's contact info, dispute instructions, and the mandatory 60-day free report notice. To avoid incomplete notices, Tennly blocks letter generation until you have entered your reporting agency's details.
How does Tennly support required cash receipts?
When a tenant pays rent in cash, statutes in states such as New York (Real Property Law § 235-e) and Texas (Property Code § 92.011) require landlords to provide an immediate written receipt. When you log a cash payment in Tennly, the software automatically assigns a sequential receipt number (e.g., TN-0143) and produces a clean, printable receipt sheet with balance summaries and signature verification.
How can I try Tennly before subscribing?
You can test Tennly with a pre-loaded sample portfolio (2 properties, 6 units, active tenancies with paid, current, and overdue balances, and sample applications) without entering payment details.
