Privacy Policy
Tennly is designed around minimal data collection. We do not store sensitive identity credentials, sell user data, or run third-party advertising trackers.

1. Principles of our architecture
Tennly operates as a private record book for independent landlords. The landlord is the controller of property, application, and tenancy data entered into the application. We design our software so that neither landlords nor Tennly have to safeguard high-risk identity numbers.
2. Data we do not collect or store
To protect applicant privacy and avoid storing high-risk personal data, Tennly never asks for Social Security numbers, dates of birth, or bank details. Our database explicitly excludes:
- No Social Security numbers: Our application forms never request or store Social Security numbers or individual taxpayer identification numbers.
- No dates of birth: We do not ask for or record applicants' dates of birth.
- No bank account credentials: Tennly does not store tenant or applicant bank routing numbers, account numbers, or online banking login tokens.
- No credit bureau raw files: Tennly does not ingest full consumer credit bureau files. Landlords manually enter high-level scores and eviction counts from their chosen background check providers.
3. Information collected and stored
When you create a landlord account or use the software, we store:
- Landlord account records: Your email address for passwordless authentication, business name, state of operation, and receipt numbering settings.
- Property and tenancy records: Property street addresses, unit identifiers, monthly rent amounts, security deposit balances, lease start and end dates, and tenant names.
- Applicant records: Contact details submitted on public listing forms (applicant name, phone, email, monthly income figure, household occupant count, pet descriptions, and consent timestamps).
- Ledger charges and receipts: Itemized rent charges, fee entries, payment dates, payment methods (cash, check, ACH, transfer), and generated receipt numbers.
- Billing information: Subscription status and plan tier. Payment card transactions are processed directly by Stripe. Tennly never sees or stores full payment card numbers.
4. Zero advertising trackers and no data selling
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade landlord or tenant information to third parties, data brokers, or marketing networks. Tennly does not load third-party advertising pixels, behavioral tracking scripts, or cross-site tracking beacons.
5. Website analytics
The Tennly marketing website uses Google Analytics to count aggregate page visits and link clicks, helping us understand how visitors discover the site. We configure Google Analytics with advertising features disabled (Google signals and advertising personalization are turned off).
The Tennly web application (including public rental application pages) also uses Google Analytics, only to count which screens are visited (for example "dashboard" or "tenants"). It sends the screen name and nothing else from the page: no web address details, no sign-in links, no account or tenant information, and no names, emails, or amounts. Google Analytics is never loaded when the app runs on your own computer for testing.
For more details on how Google handles data from sites that use its services, visit Google's Partner Privacy Policy. You can prevent your visits from being recorded by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
6. Data retention, export, and deletion
You retain complete ownership of your records:
- Portability: You can export your full ledger, charge history, and tenancy records to standard CSV files at any time directly from the dashboard.
- Account deletion: You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings > Data, or by asking us at support@tennly.app. Deleting the account cancels your subscription and permanently removes your landlord profile, listings, applications, tenancies, charges, and receipts from Tennly's database. Stripe keeps its own separate record of your payments under Stripe's privacy policy.
- Recommended retention: Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act guidelines (15 U.S.C. § 1681p) suggest retaining tenant screening records for at least 2 years following an application decision to demonstrate uniform evaluation standards.
7. Security and database isolation
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS). Data at rest is encrypted, and PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS) policies enforce that landlords can access only their own individual portfolio records.
